Wireless Network Security Threats
Wireless networks are just as exposed to hackers and exploits as traditional hard wired networks. While the issue of protecting wired networks has been known about for many years, most companies are still in their infancy when protecting their wireless networks from DDoS (Distributed Denial of Services) attacks, interceptions and other security threats.
The main problem with the threat of attacks on any network, wireless or wired, is the numbers of angles that an attack can be laucnhed from. Therefore, it is very difficult for any company to completely protect themselves. There is a balance between protection and intervention - companies must be aware that user authentication, password prompts etc. must be managed in such a way that efficiency is not compromised.
Companies are now being encouraged to seek a platform, such as a multiservice security gateway, that does not get in the way of staff or inhibit availability or scalability.
