Where’s The Venice IPTV?

Janus Friis, millionaire and co-founder (with Niklas Zennstrom) of Skype (VoIP software) and Kazaa (file sharing client), has been silent on his blog. Not a single entry at all in November (as of this writing), and certainly nothing more about The Venice Project, the top secret closed beta of his and Niklas Zennstrom’s rumored-to-be groundbreaking IPTV (Internet TV) P2P (peer-to-peer) soft client.

I signed up for the beta weeks ago - in October, I believe. The software was to debut in mid-November. I have yet to receive an invite to the beta. Anyone know what’s going on? As another VoIP blogger said not too long ago, they may be too late to the game. Maybe advertisers aren’t interested? Not sure, but I still think they have a huge chance in the IPTV market, which is still in its infancy, and growing all over the place. They also have the benefit of their association with Skype, where they are still employed. Though whether Skype’s parent company eBay has any plans on buying out The Venice Project, I don’t know. They could use it for online video auctions.

there’s plenty going on at TVP and they now have a blogging policy for thier staff …..

Just look at their Blog and then read the blogroll

Matt, thanks for the heads up. I checked the TVP site but since the still have the beta invite screen up, I got distracted and didn’t look for a blog. But Jaanus Friis hasn’t written anything on his blog. Hence my conclusion.
