Vonage Tops Poll Of Canadian VoIP Users

Vonage beat off stiff competition to take top spot in a recent poll of Canadian VoIP users in Digital Home Canada magazine.

Digital Home found that out of the 554 readers who returned a vote,60.5% did not currently subscribe to any VoIP providers while 39.5% did. Out of the voters who did subscribe to a VoIP service, Vonage was the most popular with 28% of the vote. Videotron, Canada’s biggest telecoms provider, came in with 2.7% of the vote.

The results of the poll are:

  1. Vonage
  2. Other VoIP Service Provider
  3. Primus
  4. Shaw
  5. Rogers
  6. Comwave
  7. Videotron

Videotron, Canada’s biggest telecoms provider, came last with 2.7% of the vote. BT, Britain’s incumbent telecoms provider, is in a similar position to Videotron with very little share in the growing VoIP marketplace. However, BT recently announced a plan to push into the UK VoIP marketplace and undercut Skype’s current domestic and international call pricing.
