VoIP Subscribers Grow In Philippines

The convenience and cost-savings represented by VoIP are attracting more and more subscribers to sign up with local VoIP providers in the Philippines. While many of the new subcribers are home-based, call centers are also signing up with Philippine-based VoIP providers to merge their voice and data systems.

Reports from some companies in the Philippines indicate strong growth of VoIP in the country, with some indicating a doubling of subscribers in 2005. While local providers are banking in on this growth by offering custom installation and managed services, they are starting to feel the pinch from free software-based VoIP applications like Skype.
