Video Clip: iPhox VoIP TV Commercial

If you’ve seen the aurally annoying animated VoIP commercial that Vonage runs, you just might like this alternative (above) for a softphone called iPhox. I guess Sex still sells in the UK (the background does look like the UK). What’s even crazier is that apparently you can call the young woman in the video for free using iPhox. Can you say stalker situation? What are they running? A VoIP dating service?

iPhox runs on either Windows 2000, XP, Mac OS X 10.3.9+, or Linux. File size for Win and Mac is 9.4 Mb.You get free calling (presumably with other iPhox users and Lauren), free conferencing, and free voicemail. Sign up is really simple and doesn’t ask you to name your future first born; you can import your contacts from Outlook; and you get a US$0.25 credit (or whatever in your case).

You can add a Call In number for either US$12 for 3 months or $35 for 12 months, but you can only select UK, US, or FR (France). A bit limited, but I assume they’ll expand that. Payment can be made with Visa, Mastercard, or Amex; Moneybookers; or Paypal (but only with a verified account backed with a credit card, including Discover).

I downloaded iPhox and ran the test call, which seemed fairly clear in quality. However, I was unable to neither call out to my cell phone nor to Lauren, as suggested. Spurned by a digital woman.
