Sydney & NSW Cities To Get Free WiFi

Good news for any readers in Sydney, Gosford, Newcastle and Wollongong.  You’ll be getting free WiFi inside 3 years under a plan recently unveiled by state premier, Morris Lemma.

“As one of the world’s great cities to do business, visit or live in, Sydney deserves state of the art broadband coverage accessible by everyone.  Universal access to wireless broadband in our CBDs will further boost the state’s economy and make NSW more attractive for expanding or new businesses”, stated Lemma during the announcement.

I have a brother who has recently emigrated to Australia and he tells me that access to high speed broadband is not readily available, especially where he lives outside Sydney.  So for people in these areas, this announcement must be fantastic news.  However, it certainly won’t help BigPond or OptusNet.
