Skype 2.5 Beta Mac: Out Now

SkypeGood for you Skype!  Development on Mac releases seems to have picked up speed, as evidenced by today’s release of Skype 2.5 Beta for Mac OS X.

So what’s new in this release?  Well now us Mac users can send SMS messages to our friends, a feature that has been in the Windows version since the release of Skype 2.5 for Windows.  They’ve also introduced a 10-way conference call feature, which should be handy for SMBs.

There have been various UI improvements such as a nice ripple effect when returning from history to the contact list, but this is reserved to Tiger users.  As well as this you can now select which device to use for incoming and outgoing calls, so you can now use your speakerphone to listen to calls on loudspeaker and make calls using a headset for example.

All in all, it looks good.
