RTX DualPhone 3088 Dual-mode Skype / PSTN Phone

In the past we’ve reviewed our fair share of Skype phones, dual-mode, cordless and wifi.  Unlike many dual-mode Skype phones, this one deosn’t require any connection to your PC, which is something that has become a bit of an emerging trend recently.

The RTX Dualphone 3088 is a dual-mode Skype phone that can handle Skype calls and calls made over PSTN, all without a PC in sight.  It comes with a charging dock and base station, just like one you’d get with any other cordless phone.  Setup is fairly simple, connect the base station via Ethernet to a router and also plug it into a landline socket.  Browsing for online Skype contacts is simple and intuitive, using the standard contact list format.  SkypeOut and SkypeIn are both supported.

You can pick one up for ~$200 / ~£110, which is slightly cheaper than the fabled Netgear SPH101.
