Rebtel Provides Mobile VoIP Solution
With VoIP being the hype now a days and everyone trying to provide a way to move it away from the computer desk to make it mobile, it is not surprising that many solutions are popping up for VoIP on the cellular phone. Rebtel is another company which has jumped onto the mobile-VoIP bandwagon but with a slightly different twist.
Recognizing the problem that not everyone might have a dual phone or a hotspot subscription and not all cities have metro network Wi-Fi in place, Rebtel has come up with a fuss free wireless VoIP service solution. No downloads needed and no subscription fees either. Just register on their website, which is free-of-charge and VoIP calls can be made to any phone in the world through a local number. There is a catch though, as this requires the other party to call you back at your Rebtel number once they receive your call which traverse through IP connections and terminate at their destination number. Furthermore they say the calls are free but mentions that mobile minutes charges do apply.

hey,
I’m a student currently working with Rebtel over the summer. I agree that their strength is that it’s not dependant on the carrier.
I think that we get more of the internet / mobile convergence we can transgress even beyond the operators charging their local fees (to pay of their expensive networks)..
