Polycom Debuts Slick Executive VoIP Phone
Way back when I was working for a giant telecom, one of things I enjoyed was having a cool executive-style office phone, with a large readout, loads of buttons and flashing lights. I’m like a gibbering idiot when it comes to shiny gadgets, especially gadgets that actually improve productivity, which a good phone set can. But with VoIP taking a high-powered running leap into the telecom business, set to replace the incumbent as humanity’s preferred method of communication, it’s brought mostly a blah face to the world in the form of softphones.
Sure, there are some softphones that are mildly attractive, but most have warts and occasionally cackle (or is that crackle, due to poor sound quality). So stuffy executives reluctant to move to VoIP might just on board when they see Polycom‘s new HD (high definition?) Voice SoundPoint IP 650 phone. At about US$449, only the privileged executives are going to get one of these. Asterisk VoIP News has all the juicy the details on this phone. Although Bruce Wayne might use one, Batman would probably make his own VoIP phone.
