In a latest statement, VoIP Company SunRocket announced to provide around 10 days for the customers to save their numbers while they switch to any other service provider. The numbers of the customers will be ported to their desired provider within the10 day’s period. It has been stated by the Sherwood Partners LLC that they have made a deal with SunRocket to sell some of the company’s network assets to the VoIP provider TeleBlend.

In accordance to the agreement all the funds raised would be used in order to keep the service active till the midnight of 5^th August, Eastern U.S. time. SunRocket is known to be the provider of unlimited domestic calling in the U.S. in exchange of U.S $199 per year. Its customers have been recorded as 200,000 up to now. However, the company has failed to sustain their services and all their business operations have been known to be closing down now. Nevertheless, a number of the other rival VoIP service providers are now providing the option of switching to their network to the customers.

Microsoft’s business division president, Jeff Raikes announced that the office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 and the Office Communication 2007 client have been completed and are expected to be released to the manufacturing (RTM) within this week.

RTM signifies that the code development has been accomplished and the product discs are prepared to be pressed and geared up for distribution. This later process takes place approximately six to eight weeks after RTM.

Raikes stated that with the achievement, Microsoft is now one step closer to establishing the company once again as a key force in unified communications and voice. The Ottawa government has made a move in the deregulation of phone services. According to the latest news, some of the existing internet based phone calling rules has been deactivated which has further marginalized the CRTC.

Maxime Bernier, minister of industry at a luncheon meeting on Wednesday stated that VOIP services would no longer be controlled. He further said that the VOIP market has less barriers for entry therefore it was wise to halt its regulation. He added that in today’s competitive sector, it is not necessary to regulate some of the selected companies when the others are allowed to offer the services at the prices they desire.

The previous barriers to the VOIP services was so far restricting some of the existing phone carriers in the prices of their own VOIP services in order to compete with the specialized services like Vonage Canada. One such company that was affected by the previous regulation includes the Bell Canada Enterprises Inc. Now with the new deregulation all the VOIP service providers are allowed to price their package according to the way they want.

A spokesperson from the Canadian Radio Telecommunications Commission commented that the deregulation will display its outcome very soon. A circular is known to be issued for its implementation. Services like Bell and SasTel are expected to change their VoIP service policies.
