Nokia Working On Phone With SIP Client
Nokia plans on introducing a new phone in the first half of 2006 targeted at consumers with an integrated SIP client that will allow users to place and receive VoIP calls from their mobile phone. While comments from Nokia suggest that their new VoIP enabled phone will not be compatible with Skype, they do plan on making it compatible with VoIP solutions from other service providers.
Nokia are working in conjunction with Cisco Systems Inc. and Avaya Inc. on IP PBX, hosted IP PBX and IP Centex elements of the new device. Reports suggest that the phone will be dual-mode, offering cellular and WLAN.
