My Voice Remote: Skype-enabled Media Center Controller

In the past we’ve covered a lot of Skype accessories, with everything from mice to the latest in wifi phones. But as far as I know, we have yet to cover a Skype-enabled remote control.
It’s called the My Voice Remote, and you can pick one up for ~$250. That sounds a lot, and it is. So what can it do to justify a price tag like that? For starters, you can use it to control a Windows Media Center PC. It can be used to open applications, navigate menus, open files, browse the internet, browse your iTunes library, send email and more. And it does it all via voice, although there are enough buttons on the thing to suggest that it can be used as a traditional remote control too.
However, we aren’t really interested in that because this thing comes enabled to make and take calls on Skype via the touch of a button. It isn’t clear whether you then use the controllers voice functionality to navigate the Skype contact list, but it is a possibility.
Would I buy this or not? That depends. $250 is a fair whack of cash to spend on a remote controller, especially when you can pick up the Netgear SPH101 for the same amount.
