Multi-Link TeleVoIP 201 USB Skype Phone
SkypeGear have information on a new low-cost Skype phone from Multi-Link called the TeleVoIP 201 USB Skype Phone. Unlike the recently released Netgear SPH200D, the TeleVoIP USB Phone requires a direct connection to your computer. As such, I would consider this a low-end phone because there is a degree of inflexibility associated with the necessity to locate the base station alongside the PC it is connected to.
However, don’t let that put you off. If you’re anything like me you’ll probably spend most of your time in front of your computer anyway! The handset itself has a nice sleek finish in glossy black, which sets it apart from many of the iPod-alike white products we keep seeing. When cradled it can charge, but I’m not quite sure if it can be charged via USB or whether it has a separate power brick. I hope that it can draw power via USB because I really cannot stand cable clutter on a desk.
The familiar Skype contact list is right there so you can easily see who is calling, missed calls, who you have called recently and what contacts are currently available online.
You can pick up the TeleVoIP 201 for as little as $49.99 online at the Skype Store.
