Mac-Specific Megafon VoIP Softphone

All you Mac users who might be feeling as if VoIP soft phones for the Mac are more of an afterthought may want to check out the Megafon. It’s a soft phone in beta and it’s free. Well, only until Jun 2007. After that, it’ll cost US$79. Prepaid calling subscriptions go for $49. The software will run on either Intel or PowerPC-based Macs [via Mac World] I just don’t see how they can justify a paid softphone model, considering all the free softphones out there, including Skype, which runs on Macs, as well as numerous Skype alternatives, most of which probably run on a Mac as well.

No, there is no real alternative for MAc Users. There is the old Xlite with a terrible GUI and SJPhone, Opensource and still under construction.

    Hopefully one will make a free/shareware SIP-Phone…
