Iristel launch Pay-As-You-Go residential VoIP service
Following on from VoIP.com’s announcement of their non-committal service comes news of a Pay-As-You-Go VoIP service from Iristel for Canadian residents.
Iristel’s new Pay-As-You-Go VoIP service is pitched at the residential VoIP market and will be pitched exclusively to existing Iristel residential subscribers. Customers who want to use the service will be required to top up their account with funds, similar to the way VoIP.com and Skype operate. The new Pay-As-You-Go service complements their established Broadfone packages that includes a softphone as well as a hardware solution.
“Iristel aims to bring cost effective communicative solutions to its end users. With packages now starting at $3.95 per month, Iristel’s Broadfone Digital Telephone Service is becoming the provider of choice for Canadians. With today’s busy lifestyles, the average person is not at home very often, and when they are, why pay for a telephone service they are not using. By continuing to offer the most diverse plans in the marketplace, we are able to provide our customers with a unique product geared towards them, and their lifestyles,†says Samer Bishay, President and CEO, Iristel Inc.
There is plenty of competition in this space, most notably from Skype and SightSpeed as well as Vonage who are well entrenched in the residential marketplace.
However, a zero-commitment Pay-As-You-Go option is perfect for people who are new to ‘broadband phones’ because they don’t stand to lose out financially and there is no need to switch your telco provider, just download an application and give it a go. It’s a smart move, bait and hook stuff.
