Hullo: Slick, Versatile Soft VoIP
Looking for an alternative to Skype or Gizmo? Have a look at Hullo, hailed by some as the slickest soft VoIP implementation yet. Now why would it deserve praise like that?
Well, it covers all the basics with ease. But where it shines is in how it can integrate your PC, cell phone and landline with incredible cohesion. When you setup Hullo you enter in all your phone numbers, including cell and landline. When someone calls you and you aren’t at your computer, Hullo can route the call to your cell, if you aren’t answering it’ll try to route the call to your landline.
It can also be setup to route incoming calls depending on who is calling you. Say your business partner calls, you can setup Hullo to route that call straight to your cell phone. What if you’re on vacation and don’t want to get calls from work? Hullo could route this to your landline and you’ll not hear anything more about work.
There are some things you should know though. At the moment Hullo is not e911 compliant, only supports Windows and is currently free while in beta. However, once Hullo is released from beta they will offer a mix of free and paid calls. Also, there is no difference between local and long-distance calls within the continental USA and Canada as all numbers are in xxx-xxx-xxxx 10-digit format.
Just think how handy this would be for a travelling salesman or time-strapped businessmen! There are times when you have got to work and a cold-call is the last thing you need. Well with Hullo, that could be a thing of the past.
