Fring: Free Mobile Calls

Fring is a free application that runs on the Symbian S60 platform. It is a 3G mobile app that allows you to make free calls from your mobile and send text messages to other Fring users. While this is attractive, what draws my eye to Fring is that it also allows a user to make free calls to people on your Skype and Google Talk contact lists.

You have to be a part of a 3G network to make use of Fring, but it certainly would be well worth looking into. It doesn’t charge any air time costs because all the calls are made as part of your data plan. According to Fring’s website, the technology behind the application is currently patent pending.
