FreeTalk Is No More, Long Live Vonage!
Freetalk is a UK VoIP service that has been around for a while, well, not that long really. Now it’s parent company, DSG, have announced that the service is to be axed. DSG, who also own Dixons, Currys and PC World, will now concentrate on selling VoIP services from Vonage and Skype:
“Freetalk customers will be able to transfer their service and phone number to Vonage and benefit from Vonage’s innovative features and services and competitive rates.”
Vonage seem to be the main benefactor from the demise of Freetalk, it looks like Freetalk is encouraging it’s customers to move across to Vonage and start their subscription engines. Customers will be able to make unlimited calls to UK and RoI landlines.
I’m not sure if Vonage have bought out Freetalk, or Freetalk decided to get out of the game and worked a deal out with them. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out, and whether Freetalkers will stick with Vonage.
