Free WiFi For Downtown Pittsburg

Looks like the free municipal WiFi initiative sweeping the US is set to continue with the announcement that Downtown Pittsburg will be covered with a wireless network to provide free internet access for the city. Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership contracted US Wireless Online to build and administer the network.

Starting at 12 noon today (Wednesday September, 12) the Pittsburg CBD / Golden Triangle, Lower Hill District and North Shore will have access to the WiFi network.

There will be 2 bands available:

  1. Free access granted for up to 2 hours per day.
  2. Unlimited access available at a set daily, monthly or yearly rate.

Pittsburgh’s announcement comes shortly after 2 other US cities announced their own municipal WiFi networks.
