Eqo: Now With Cell Phone Instant Messaging

Vancouver based EQO have just made a new version of their software for mobiles available, allowing anyone with a supported cell phone to send and receive instant messages. All the big hitters are supported including Skype, GoogleTalk, AIM, YIM, MSN Messenger, Jabber and ICQ. To get it running on your phone you only need to download and install a small Java app from the wireless data network.

EQO had previously introduced software that allowed users to make Skype calls from their phones, this new IM functionality will solidify their presence in this fast growing market. Recently Rebtel and Jajah announced they too would be making their unconventional VoIP services available for cell phones.
