DECT VoIP Phones
A selection of new DECT VoIP phones have been announced at CES. With more features than ever before, this new generation of handsets represent the growing popularity of VoIP technology and it’s impending entrance to the home marketplace.
XACT Mango Phone
Showing at CES was the new XACT Mango phone, but a release date was not given to reporters. This handset, which has a fantastic built-in colour screen, can hook up with a mobile phone using a Bluetooth connection. It comes with a selection of games with a range of up to half a mile! On top of that, it works with popular VoIP services such as Skype.
Auvi Technology PHIP100 DECT Speakerphone
This one is pretty interesting. The Auvi Technology PHIP100 DECT Speakerphone has a built-in webcam and 2.1 speaker system. The great thing about the speakphones is that they can play back music and podcasts from an MP3 player (such as the iPod or Creative Zen). With integrated DECT capabilities, the PHIP100 is able to bridge VoIP and landline calls, but it can also initiate conference calls between VoIP and landline phones. Auvi say that the PHIP100 will be available some time in June with a $199 price tag.
Motorola C51
The Motorola C51 is a connected home phone system that uses DECT to avoid interference from other devices. The C51 is designed to be modular, letting you add components to build up it’s capabilities as and when you need them. You can start with the $99 phone base and start adding modules to increase your capabilities. You may want to monitor your baby while it sleeps, then add the $99 camera. If you want to interface with your cell phone, just add the $99 Bluetooth dock. Looking for style and elegance, then add a $99 ME4000 / ME4200 handset. The C51 system is built for expansion and convenience. It can support up to 6 lines simultaneously split into 1 VoIP line, 1 landline and 4 cell lines. The C51 is available now.
