Bound-IP: Circumvent ISPs Blocking IP Telephony
I’ve been looking into this subject for quite a while, and for the life of me I couldn’t find an app that would circumvent an ISP set on blocking VoIP traffic. But all this has changed, for finally there is a solution.
Friends in the UAE and China, you’ll be interested in this! And if you subscribe to an ISP that has a policy of downgrading the quality of VoIP calls, you too should look into this.
Bound-IP is a new app that, according to the site, “removes an ISP’s ability to limit your internet connectivity making sure that your VIOP or Instant Message provider will be available from any host network in the word”. They also emphasize that it works from “anywhere in the world”. Nice one.
Currently it is Windows-only and seems to be operating as a subscription service, requiring a PayPal address. Bound-IP works with Vonage, Skype, Google Talk, Asterisk, ICQ and YIM. It’s an interesting idea to say the least.
