AT&T Get Into Soft VoIP With CallVantage Service

AT&T have announced their own downloadable soft VoIP app developed in association with CounterPath. According to the press release I grabbed from CounterPath, one can see that this will be based on SIP and will have Caller ID, Voicemail, Call Logs etc. There’s no definitive word on whether CallVantage will be available for Windows / Mac OS X and Linux yet, but CounterPath’s eyeBeam and X-Lite soft phones are available for Windows and OS X with there also being a Linux version of X-Lite.

There will be 2 plans available:

  1. AT&T CallVantage Softphone 300 Minute Plan ($10.99 per month)- 300 minutes of local and long distance calling within the USA and to Canada and Puerto Rico. Additional minutes will be billed at 4¢ per minute.
  2. AT&T CallVantage Softphone Unlimited Plan ($19.99 per month) - Unlimited local and long distance calling with the USA and to Canada and Puerto Rico.

More coverage, including a recording of the AT&T voicemail announcement, from Ken Camp and Andy Abramson.
