Asus AiGuru S1 VoIP Phone

Asus have announced (yet) another phone that can be used along with the world’s most widely used soft Voip application, Skype. Called the Asus AiGuru S1 ($130), it is fully 802.11b/g compatible, allowing it to make calls wirelessly. You have to plug a little dongle into the back of your PC, which then lets the AiGuru A1 establish a connection with Skype to make calls, retrieve voicemail etc.

While it isn’t the ugliest of phones, the AiGuru A1 kind of lets the side down in that it is dependent on the PC to make the call. More recent Skype phones from Netgear and Philips come with Skype pre-installed so they can operate without a PC. That’s more like it!
