Apple Rebrands Music Store as iTunes Store

It’s not uncommon for small blips on the Apple website in the hours running up to a big event like today’s. And true to form, there has been a blip. Users logging into the music store are currently unable to do so as they are in the process of updating.

The rumors seem to be true, Apple are launching a download Movie Store. In doing so, some smart guy in Apple’s PR department decided that they could no longer call their pre-eminent music store moniker, iTMS or iTunes Music Store. So from now on we’ll be downloading all manner of digital content (music, music videos, TV shows and movies) from the iTS or iTunes Music Store.

More Movies Than Rumored?

And the bloop? Located on here and this page (screenshot below) you will find a listing of movies at the bottom left, and they’re from studios other than those rumored to be on-board from the start. While some are speculating these to be links to movies for download from the new store, it could just be a link to a movie trailer.

Apple’s updated music and movie store comes on the heels of Amazon’s entry into the movie download market in the form of their Unboxed service. AT&T are also making waves with their new AT&T Broadband IPTV service.
