Apple iPhone: More Rumors

The rumor mill just keeps on churning out the Apple iPhone rumors, and it’s only set to get worse as the January MacWorld approaches. There have been interviews with bloggers on CNBC, hypothetical design mockups and now reports that the manufacturing contract has been signed and handed over to Foxconn Electronics who will ship between 500,000 - 600,000 per month starting February.

The iPhone will reportedly launch in the first half of 2007 and feature a 2MP camera, tight integration with iTunes and other OS X apps as well as features previously exclusive to iPod. Here is the run-down on who will be manufacturing parts for the iPhone.

  • AlusTech: camera
  • Intel: memory
  • Sharp: LCM display
  • Tripod Technology: circuit board
  • Broadcom: baseband chip
  • Sunrex: keypad

A lot of these sourcing details are from The China Times and the DigiTimes with both publications having reported on various Apple rumors inaccurately in the past. So take it with a pinch of salt.
