Announcing New Skype-certified Products

Skype have announced a deal with 7 manufacturers to release new Skype-certified products such as VoIP headsets, VoIP adapters and VoIP phones.

As part of the announcement, Creative will release a new standalone phone called the Creative Skype Internet PhonePLUS that allows anyone to make a free Skype-to-Skype call over the internet without a connection to your PC. D-Link are releasing the DPH-50U, a telephone adapter that allows any traditional analog phone to make VoIP calls through your computer.

Panasonic are releasing a new device that is tightly integrated with Skype so that users will be able to make and receive Skye calls and traditional analog telephone calls using the same device. VTech also announced the release of their USB7100 Phone, which is a VoIP device integrated with Skype that allows users to add up to 4 handsets and view their online status and contact list, as well as make and receive calls via Skype.

Kodak announced a beta release of a new photo sharing service that integrates with Skype and is marketed as “the power to talk with friends and family as you share your photos online. Ipevo also announced the release of their new Skype-certified Fly-1 Cordless handset and Xing Speakerphone. The PC and Mac compatible handset allows users to make and receive calls via the internet using Skype.

Netgear will announce their new Skype-certified device at CES on Wednesday, the 4th of January 2006.
