3 drop roaming fees
If you’ve ever traveled internationally with your mobile phone in tow then you’ll appreciate the news that UK-based 3 have dropped their roaming fees. While my mobile carrier has yet to stop charging ridiculous amounts for international mobile calls, I warmly welcome this move and trust that it will stimulate others to follow suit.
The announcement means that members of 3 will no longer be charged extra for making / receiving calls or texts while abroad and connected to their sister networks in Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria. Further details here.
If you are a member of 3 just make sure that you are connected to their sister network if you are visiting one of these countries, otherwise you’ll still be charged. Unfortunately this deal on roaming charges isn’t available in other countries just yet.
3 have been breaking the mold in the UK mobile market with their 3G network and X-Series phone.
